Arakan National Congress
- (ANC)Established in 1938 to promote the interests of the Arakanese (Rakhines), it held its first convention in 1940. After World War II, Aung San persuaded U Aung Zan Wai and other leaders to dissolve the ANC and join the Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League as individuals rather than as members of an AFPFL united front group. Meanwhile, U Seinda, a militant Arakanese leader and member of the Sangha, began resistance against the central government in 1946 with the goal of establishing an independent Arakan.
